2023-2025 Juried Artist Registry Selection

So proud to have been selected for Arkansas Committee of the National Museum of Women in the Arts‘s Juried Artist Registry Selection for 2023-2025.

The biennial Juried Artist Registry features work by Arkansas artists who identify as women, selected by an arts professional serving as juror. Artists’ images, artist statements and website links are featured online for a two-year period. This Registry offers a contemporary look at a range of work and serves as a public resource to connect artists, curators, and collectors, and encourages the creation, exhibition, and promotion of artwork by Arkansas women artists.

Now in its 36th year, Small Works on Paper is a juried visual art exhibition that showcases 2-D artwork no larger than 18 x 24 inches by Arkansas artists. Paint Day in Art Alley

Over the weekend I had the exciting job of coordinating a community paint day in Art Alley for Downtown Paragould. This was the kick-off event for what we envision to be an ongoing and ever changing mural work for our local downtown. It was lovely to see groups of all ages come out to help paint a 90ft wall of EIGHT murals all in one day. I never would have dreamed we would have finished so fast. We finished all the designs in about 3 hours. Yes, you read that right, THREE hours. Of course, our Main Street Paragould board (which I am on) worked to have everything prepped, backgrounds painted and designs drawn out. I never would have dreamed we would have SO MANY great volunteers.

Great Showing at Oasis Jonesboro

I am so proud and overjoyed at the showing I had on Saturday at the Oasis Arts & Eats fest in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Not only did I have a great reception to my work, I got to see and actually HUG my friends for the first time in a long long time (all being fully vaccinated).

It was also my first showing with nothing but chair-tree pieces. I was truly shocked and amazed at the reactions. It left me clear that I am on the right track as an artist. I am looking forward to more art shows and festivals.

Printmaking Weekend

It’s been a while since I’ve done any kind of printmaking, but over the weekend I went a little print crazy. I was only planning to do one 3 color print, but I got a little carried away and did two additional prints. Radiate, Consequence and Exposed. All are 6×4″ linocuts using the pink blocks that I have never used before. While they are excellent to cut, the printing was a bit difficult because of their flexibility. I think I would use these again in the future but maybe in conjunction with the typical wood-backed blocks for smaller, fully-cut details. Or possibly back the pink blocks.

At any rate, it was a learning experience and I am already looking forward to more printing in my future.

10th Annual Delta Visual Art Show

It was definitely a rainy, Arkansas weekend, but boy did the Blue Bridge Center for the Delta Arts shine. It was the 10th Annual Delta Visual Art Show, a show that brought 210 visual artists, 25 authors and 10 musicians together in downtown Newport, Arkansas for a celebration of talent, skill and creativity. It was also great to see my artist friends in the area.

It was a great opportunity, and not too far of a drive. Already signed up for next year, and I can’t wait!
