Painters on Snapchat

For a while now I have been actively showing my works-in-progress on Snapchat. It is a great platform for informal, behind-the-scenes stories that are more personal and real because they disappear to the public.

Are you a Artist on Snapchat?

I have also found it to be quite difficult to find other artists on Snapchat. Typically “snapchat artists” on emerging directories are referring to people who doodle on their snaps with the built-in capabilities of the app. Don’t get me wrong, @Cakes1toDough1 ‘s cute cats are to die for, but I’d love to watch the daily practices of fellow traditional artists. If you draw or paint on snapchat please send me a friend request – mandyatlarge – let me know and I will definitely give you an add back!

Happy Chatting Fellow Snappers!

New Twitter Account

I created a new Twitter account for keeping up with my art. I will be posting work in progress pictures, videos and much more! Follow me!

Figure Drawing Studies

I’ve been working hard so far in the new year. I found a book on figure drawing my Andrew Loomis that I have become obsessed with. I’ve been producing dozens of figure sketches to really hone my skills for the future.

2015 Ozark Foothills Film Fest

Ozark Foothills FilmFest

Again this year I got to create the look for the annual Ozark Foothills FilmFest. I really like the way this years turned out and especially the tshirts. Looking forward to another great day of movies tomorrow. Bob and Judy are the very best.

Website updates

Ugh… My website recently got hacked, but that gave me an excuse to work on it, I guess. I have made a lot of changes to the galleries, and there is artwork missing from some of the galleries, but I am working on it. It should all function better on mobile and be easier to update. Enjoy.

This painting was inspired by my beautiful friend Jen. You might know her from the other painting inspired by her, Tribes.

Game of Thrones – Khaleesi Fan Art

HBO’s Game of Thrones is one of the most popular shows on TV, and for good reason. The characters, the locations, the sets, the attention to detail — it’s incredible. Earlier this year while waiting for the new season, I did a couple of watercolors of one of my favorite characters, Daenerys Targaryen or the Khaleesi, Mother of Dragons. These are of my two favorite scenes of last season.

I don’t do many fanart-type pieces, but these were fun… Who knows? Maybe more will be inspired from the last season.

Goodbye 2011

I can’t believe it’s 2012 already! 2011 was a big year for me!
Looking back:

Goodbye 2011

And that’s not even the half of it! The best part about 2011 was probably my Instagram addiction. It’s an app for my phone that allows me to easily take and share pictures with my photo blog. Because of this, my 2011 is full of photos! I took at least one photo every day of 2011, all organized and tagged. I love that I can visually see each month and what was going on. (Try viewing the photo blog in grid view.)

Taking pictures every day keeps me thinking creatively and see my world differently. I am hoping to do the same for 2012, with hopes that this year’s pictures will be even more unique.
