Great show at this year’s Art & Stroll in Paragould. I was thrilled with the local reception of my Chrees and it was very encouraging to see.
I carved a little stamp of my personal sigil to use on the backs of my framed art and I just love it. It reminds me of the stone one I had made as a seal in Korea, but I am too afraid to use that one because I don’t want to mess it up. Heh.
I am so proud and overjoyed at the showing I had on Saturday at the Oasis Arts & Eats fest in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Not only did I have a great reception to my work, I got to see and actually HUG my friends for the first time in a long long time (all being fully vaccinated).
It was also my first showing with nothing but chair-tree pieces. I was truly shocked and amazed at the reactions. It left me clear that I am on the right track as an artist. I am looking forward to more art shows and festivals.
That’s right! I’m all vaccinated and to celebrate I will be at the 2021 Oasis Arts & Eats Festival in downtown Jonesoboro on May 1st.
About the Event
Oasis is a celebration of creativity in all its forms. The festival showcases local and regional visual art, poetry, music and food. This fabulous event will feature tons of local artists who have created handmade crafts, as well as professional food vendors. This event is a collaborative effort between the Foundation of Arts, The Downtown Jonesboro Association, and The Department of Art + Design at Arkansas State University, and NEA Artist Collective.
The Batesville Area Arts Council is pleased to host the 2021 BAAC National Juried Exhibition, on display through June 5, 2021. The exhibition consists of 26 pieces from 21 artists across the United States. The juror for this year’s exhibition is Landon Perkins, an interdisciplinary artist from Tallahassee, FL and a Preparator at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, AR.

It’s been a while since I’ve done any kind of printmaking, but over the weekend I went a little print crazy. I was only planning to do one 3 color print, but I got a little carried away and did two additional prints. Radiate, Consequence and Exposed. All are 6×4″ linocuts using the pink blocks that I have never used before. While they are excellent to cut, the printing was a bit difficult because of their flexibility. I think I would use these again in the future but maybe in conjunction with the typical wood-backed blocks for smaller, fully-cut details. Or possibly back the pink blocks.
At any rate, it was a learning experience and I am already looking forward to more printing in my future.
I had the pleasure of joining a virtual figure drawing class last night, hosted by the Brooks Museum of Art. It was an interesting class and reminded me of being back in college, all those many years ago. We started off with quick drawings, 1 minute, 5 minutes, and worked our way up to 10 and 15 minutes. I am looking forward to joining another virtual art class.
Here are a selection of the drawings from the event:
You can now join me live in my studio several days a week on Twitch TV. Here I will be painting, drawing, and sculpting while chatting with viewers. I wanted to find a good motivation to get and stay in the studio, and the Twitch art community is very accommodating.
I am looking forward to improving my live streams, and getting more comfortable talking about my conceptual work.
Very proud to be accepted to this year’s Batesville Area Arts Council National Juried Show. It was beautiful and it was nice to get to attend the opening.
The show runs from April 23 – June 8, 2019 so please go check it out if you can!
